Upcoming Events at the Portland Art Museum

Here we are in the witch's mouth at the Enchanted Forest!

Hi Everyone.
Thanks for coming out to the Sister Spit Eurotrash Benefit the other night, Portland. I truly appreciate it and hope you had a nice time.
If you weren't there, then I shall deliver the sad news to you:
The European Tour has been canceled.
Bummer beyond bummers!
The good news was that we paid the performers at the benefit the other night (including Michelle, who very graciously flew up to do the benefit anyway!). The bad news is that I shant be in Europe this November.
Updates as they come!

HEY SUBSCRIBERS:
I have a limited edition copy of Dope Flounder for you, from Free Comic Book Day. I thank you for your patience and am hard at work on new zines now that school is out!

In other news, I'm doing some programs at the Portland Art Museum this summer in conjunction with their R. Crumb Exhibit.
Check it out!

World, Have Your Say

Hi.

Are there any images of mine that you wish would exist in print form?
A particular calendar page you wish didn't have the month printed at the top, or perhaps something you've seen in a book or on my website?
Have your say!
Please tell me in the comment section!

Updates from Home

Hi Everyone.

1. I have officially been home from tour for a week.

2. My computer promptly caught viruses/had hard drive failure upon my return, and was taken to the kind surgeons at Red Star Machine Works, where a hard drive transplant was performed. It is now as good as new, giving me the joy of listening to podcasts whilst working on comics (instead of listening to NPRs coverage of the oil spill and wanting to jam my brushpen into my eye as a result).

3. If you emailed me over the past month about anything, like zine distribution or pet portraits or even just a love/hate letter, I will get to it I Promise.

4. I almost forgot to tell you that my friends Ariel and Aron Nels Steinke got married recently and I made them this portrait as a gift!

5. You can order Dope Flounder, the comic I submitted to for Free Comic Book Day here . Subscribers, I may try to wrestle some of these out of the hands of Tugboat Press / Sparkplug Comics for you. We Shall See!

6. SUBSCRIBERS: I put out 20 copies of issue 17 of Invincible Summer for tour, but I have to say I really want to make it better before I commit to making enough copies for the world. I appreciate your patience!

7. Turning in my graphic novel on June 1st. Aye yay yay.

Take care.

P.S. I got my hands on a copy of The Unsinkable Walker Bean by Aaron Renier, and I can't recommend it highly enough! Run don't Walk to pre order this young pirate adventure, or sit on your hands until September & snatch it up in person!

I'm Home From Tour!

Hi friends.
I am home from tour, and now understand why it is that people eat baby carrots.
I've started taking pet portrait orders again, and am slowly getting back on track.
Thank you to everyone who came out, especially this nice girl in Wisconsin who showed up with 2 NJG tattoos! Holy Cow!

b. Come see me on tour, why don't you? Say Hello!

c. I'm going to try and acquire a summer intern, which will mean an updated database, which will mean you will receive emails from me about your subscriptions and if you're one of the people who has not yet received your card or button, you will have a chance to speak up and I will send them your way with your next package.

4. I'm going to have a benefit show for Sister Spit's 2010 Eurotrash Tour here in PORTLAND on JUNE 19TH at MISSISSIPPI PIZZA. Featured guests include myself, Michelle Tea, Tara Jane Oneil, and more TBA.

Graphic Novel Update

PHEW IS RIGHT!
I am so- so- so close to being done with my book! It is all penciled (knock on wood knock on wood) and is in the midst of getting inked, getting cleaned up, and getting sent to the publisher.
Holy cow!

See for yourself:

Here are the 20 pounds of pages:

And here, for your contrast-and-comparison, is the new 2010 version of the drawing attached to the original proposal from so very long ago (rats, i want to find the original for you to compare & contrast, but i can't find it! trust me, this looks less bizarre than its predecessor:

Please wish me luck. I may be arthritic, batty, and/or blind by the time I am finished!

Just in time to go on tour.... (see below)
